Quick Tips: How to Quit Stressing About Assignments

If you’re anything like me, you might spend more time stressing over an assignment than you do actually studying and doing the work to complete it. Staying on top of all the assignments at the end of the semester can feel overwhelming! The to-do lists never seem to end and scrolling on Canvas through all of the assignments can be exhausting.

Here’s the one trick I have to take the stress out of staying on top of assignments.

Write down the three important things that HAVE to get done today.

  • Decide: if I could only get three things done today, what would they need to be?
  • Order these 1-3 from most important to least important.
  • Write those three things on a post-it or in your phone notes.
  • Each day, instead of stressing about all there is to do, just do the three things in order.

 Not sure where to start?

  • List out all of the due dates for the semester (or the next few weeks)
  • Look at what is due this week and next week.

Remember, each day you need a new list of three things.

I hope this quick tip takes the stress out of studying for you. I’ve found that once I know what I need to do, I can focus all of my attention on the task in front of me instead of wondering if I should be doing something else.
