Wow! Who would have dreamed your senior year of high school would end in such an abrupt and dramatic way? A worldwide pandemic was certainly not on my radar and probably not yours either.
With the cancelation of proms, senior nights, last games, and concerts, you have missed many of the exciting events to celebrate your accomplishments. My heart breaks for the lost memories of your senior year. While you must feel the loss of this interrupted milestone you’ve looked forward to for what seems like forever, I hope you’re also feeling an incredible sense of achievement and strength as you head into this next chapter.
There is a lot of apprehension right now and I can only imagine how difficult it must be to make plans for the future with so much uncertainty. Our TJC Admissions team has been meeting virtually every day to figure out how we can better serve you. We’re choosing to make the most of this unprecedented time, and our intention is to eliminate any confusion you may have on this journey.
We are here to help: Student-facing departments are available to offer support by virtual means. During the hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, you can interact with student-facing departments in real-time via telephone, video chat, text, and/or email.
We want to show you around: TJC’s 145-acre tree-filled campus is one of the most beautiful colleges in the nation. Experience campus from home using our virtual tour.
We want to connect: We are hosting free, daily virtual information sessions to help you and your parent(s) engage with TJC staff and get the answers you need when you can’t visit the College in person. TJC Connect LIVE sessions and cover a variety of topics and are held in real-time.
We understand: We know getting documents required for admissions can be difficult right now, and we’ll continue to work with students. Additionally, we are allowing temporary flexibility for those who are not TSI tested or exempt. You may register for fall classes and will have until August 1 to complete TSI requirements for your fall classes to remain uninterrupted.
College is a huge transition that can seem overwhelming in the best of times. You have a lot on your plate and it’s okay to feel anxious. It’s also okay if you don’t know what you want to do with the rest of your life right now. Take this time to explore your options.
You have come a long way, and where you are headed looks pretty amazing. Continue to show up as you did before all of this started. Push yourself to overcome the obstacles and don’t limit yourself along the way. You have what it takes to be great. This is the beginning of anything you want!
I believe in you,
Claire Mizell
Director of Admissions
